Apple Settles Antitrust Battle, Will Pay $100 Million And Revise App Store Policies

Apple has agreed to pay $100 million to settle an antitrust lawsuit by developers who claimed the company abused its market power by charging an “overly expensive” 30% commission.

Apple also promised to revise its App Store policies by allowing developers to inform consumers by email or telephone about outside payment options, lawyers representing the app developers told U.S. District Court Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers in Oakland, California on Thursday.

“This injunctive relief is extremely valuable,” lawyers for the developers said in a motion urging Gonzalez Rogers to grant the settlement preliminary approval.
